Sustainability

Certified Sustainable and Responsible

At Normarine AS, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Based in Ålesund — Norway’s leading fish port — we are proud to be part of a global movement that promotes responsible fishing, protects ocean ecosystems, and supports thriving coastal communities.

We are proud to be MSC certified, demonstrating our strong commitment to the environment and responsible sourcing:

This certification means our wild-caught fish come from fisheries that meet strict sustainability standards. It ensures that fish stocks are healthy, ecosystems are protected, and fisheries are well managed.

A Shared Mission with Woocheen & Sealaska

In 2023, Normarine became part of Woocheen, the ocean-health platform of Sealaska, an Alaska Native Corporation. This partnership strengthens our mission to foster ocean health by increasing access to sustainably sourced, high-quality seafood.

Our collaboration with New England Seafood International (NESI) and Sealaska enhances our ability to meet growing consumer demand for premium, responsibly harvested fish such as Atlantic cod and haddock. Together, we aim to inspire more seafood consumption as a sustainable alternative to land-based proteins — reducing freshwater usage and carbon emissions in the process.

We are proud to be a part of

Supporting People, Nature, and the Ocean

Sustainability for us is more than environmental—it’s about people and communities. As part of the Sealaska family, Normarine contributes to a model where profits support Alaska Native shareholders and their communities. Our work aligns with their values: caring for nature, water, and the sensible use of natural resources.

We believe that seafood is not only a healthy and delicious source of nutrition, but also a key solution to feeding a growing world population in a climate-conscious way.
